Description
The mechanical engineer will be responsible for solving a wide variety of manufacturing, quality, and purchasing issues across many different product lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Solves manufacturing issues (assembly, machining, etc.), quality issues (dimensional, material, and design discrepancies, etc.), and purchasing issues (vendor qualification, engineering support, etc.).
- Resolves customer complaints.
- Improves existing products.
- Performs dimensional analysis as needed.
- Completes product testing as needed.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Skills and Abilities
- Reads technical drawings and knows Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Deals with nonverbal, logical, or scientific symbolism such as formulas, scientific equations, graphs, and a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Uses highly complex machines and equipment, as well as specialized or advanced software programs.
- Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
- Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
- Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and/or other employees of the organization.
- Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related degree (required).
- Zero to three years of related experience (required).
- Experience in 3D modeling skills (Pro/E and/or SolidWorks) and 2D drafting skills (preferred).
- Intermediate: Word processing/typing, presentation/PowerPoint, spreadsheet/alphanumeric data entry.
