Job description
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for owning the mechanical aspects of various machinery and tooling projects. These may vary from small R&D tasks to large scale production equipment. The mechanical Design Engineer will work with customers to define the needs and specifications for their projects. These projects will generally be interdisciplinary, and the engineer will work with other members of the team to deliver an integrated and functional solution.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the design of systems, mechanisms, and components for custom automated machinery and tools
- Integration of off-the-shelf and custom robotics, actuation, sensors, vision systems
- Meeting project budgets and schedules and coordinating progress with project stakeholders
- CAD and drawing creation
- Building and testing of prototypes
- Working with interdisciplinary teams on controls and software integration
- Working with and managing external suppliers
- Working with customers to refine requirements and align on project requirements
- Supporting equipment deployment at customer sites as needed
Minimum Required Experience:
- Demonstrated talent in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong and demonstratable mechanical intuition
- Experience using SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software
- Experience creating and reviewing engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Basic knowledge of materials and fabrication processes (machining, welding, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- BS or higher in engineering field
- Understanding of CE, NFPA 79, and SEMI S8 compliance
- Analysis (FEA) experience
- Understanding of GD&T, Y14.5M-2009
- Familiarity with controls and software concepts
- Background / hobbies / extracurricular activities that are hands-on and mechanical in nature.
