Our Littelfuse Semiconductors Business Unit Design Group in Chippenham is growing and looking for a new team member. You as a Mechanical Design Engineer will engage in the activities & carry out the duties of the Design Group. These activities range broadly from the design and development of new and existing semiconductor products to the advice and system support given to customers, suppliers, and other Littelfuse departments.
About the job:
Participate in ensuring that the latest issues of drawings and system documentation are circulated to the relevant departments in accordance with the Design Group procedures manual
Analyze customer and Littelfuse-generated requests for products and formulate them into economic, fully specified designs capable of meeting all the requested engineering parameters
Engage in close liaison, meetings, and visits with customers, suppliers, and Littelfuse departments from the outset to ensure that project stage schedules, engineering specification targets and project completion forecasts are met
Liaise with the Quality Evaluation and Quality Assurance departments in assessing the quality and reliability of complete designs to ensure they comply with the relevant specification
Participate in ensuring that the latest issues of drawings and system documentation are circulated to the relevant departments in accordance with the Design Group procedures manual
Propose and cooperate in the patenting of new or improved designs or processes.
Alert the Patent Officer of any possible infringements of the Company patents by its competitors or vice-versa
About you:
HNC or university degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or a related field
At least 2 years of experience in product or technology development
Knowledge of products design and prototypes testing
Knowledge of CAD Software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens NX)
Knowledge of simulation practices and software (Ansys, COMSOL) would be beneficial
Experience with global manufacturing companies would be beneficial
Team player with critical thinking and a “Can do” attitude
Strong analytical and communication skills
High attention to detail
