Our Business
Selwood's success is driven by the work of our Design and Production teams within our manufacturing facilities based in Chandlers Ford Hampshire who specialise in the assembly of large water pumps, using in house cranes and tooling.
We are looking to welcome a Mechanical Assembler to join our friendly team in Chandlers Ford. In this role you will be involved in the assembly of diesel engines and motor driven pump sets - ideally you will be coming from a mechanical background and we will provide you with the training you will need to assemble a full kit. Our busy Production floor sends Pumps across the UK and to many countries around the world, so quality and safety is important to us, so you will have a keen eye for detail and will be able to work from technical drawings.
About The Role
- Assembling of a variety of components/sub-assemblies such as:
- Couplings
- Engines
- Electric Motors
- Pump Body Units
- Pump Chassis
- Bearings
- Mechanical Seals
- Identification Plates
- Nuts/Studs/Bolts to required torque settings
- Shimming
- Impellers
- Battery’s
- Guarding
- Assembly from manufacturing drawings to pre-defined build standards within the required timeframes.
- The use of overhead cranes to connect Body Units and Engines.
- Preparation of engines and setting to specified RPM.
- Dressing finished assemblies by cleaning and adding decals.
- Adding Fuel Lines.
- Completing Job cards in line with Build processes.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Recognised Mechanical trade qualification and/or experience
- Ability to work from technical drawings
- Methodical approach with attention to detail
- NVQ L2 OR L3
