We have an amazing opportunity for a Mechanical Apprentice to join our Cement, Lime and Packed Products Team at Dunbar, near to Dunbar town in Scotland. This role is commutable from East Linton, North Berwick, Haddington, Tranent, Prestonpans, Edinburgh, Mayfield, Musselburgh, Corstorphine, Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

As part of the Cement, Lime & Packed division of Tarmac you will play an important role in keeping UK infrastructure moving, contributing towards the successful production cementitious products. An exciting role where you can see the outputs of your hard work all around you (quite literally!)

As a Mechanical Apprentice s typical day will include:-

  • Attending college to study the academic and practical elements of the role.

  • Plenty of chance for some hands-on experience on site, where you can make your mark and become a vital part of the team, actively participating in breakdowns and planned maintenance work on the equipment and assets at our Cement Plant.

  • Life on site will involve working both inside and outside. It won’t always be glamorous and sometimes you might find yourself in a dusty or confined environment. However, your safety and health is our number one priority and full protective clothing and equipment is provided. Your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Our Apprentice programme is a great opportunity for you to develop skills and knowledge for the future and to bring us some fresh perspectives and ideas. The Ideal Candidate

Our people come from a variety of different backgrounds. The following skills and qualifications are beneficial in this role:-

Qualifications:

  • Expecting or obtained a minimum of 3 National 5 (N5) Qualifications grade A-C grades, including English & Maths/Science
  • A practical and technical aptitude, and able to demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering, technology or science.

Skills:

  • Enthusiastic about starting a career in the building materials industry!

  • Passionate about working safely.

  • A team player.

  • Willing to learn and develop.

  • Resilience.

  • A desire to get stuck in and have variety of a hands on role with time working in the office too.
