Job description
SSTL are looking for a contractor to join our team to do analysis and design of lightweight spacecraft structures.
Responsible For
The analysis and design of lightweight spacecraft structures. Reporting to the Mechanical Analysis team leader, and working closely with Senior Analysts.
Key Tasks
- Finite element modelling of mechanical components and structures
- Static and Dynamic Finite element analysis of mechanical components and structures
- Thermo-elastic analysis of mechanical components and structures
- Refining finite element models to obtain agreement with experimental data
- Checking and validating numerical analyses with hand calculations
- Developing load environment specifications from launch documentation, analysis and test data
PERSON SPECIFICATION (essential requirements)
Qualifications
- Good Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
Experience
- Mechanical analysis experience in Spacecraft, Aircraft or Formula 1 industry 5+ years essential.
Knowledge & Skills
- A good understanding of the principles of FEA
- Mechanical analysis of both metallic and composite components
- Highly proficient in the use of Nastran/Hypermesh/Ansys
- Detailed hand stressing
- Experience in the use of Solidworks CAD software (desirable but not essential)
- Competent in MS office tools and documenting work
- Good team working and communication skills
- Flexible and able to work across variety of projects/tasks
- Self-motivated and proactive in solving issues
