Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum (DOE)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent OR Part Time, Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours/week; Part Time - hours per week negotiable. Hours will be flexible over 7 days to meet local delivery needs
Location: Worcestershire
Reporting to: Operations Manager for Coventry, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire
About the Role
Multiply is a new government-funded programme to help adults improve their numeracy skills.
Numeracy skills are an everyday part of our lives and give us the ability to think critically about the world around us. As part of the Multiply programme, we want to help people improve their ability to understand and use maths in daily life, home, and work: improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the facts in the media, or improving numeracy skills specific to a line of work. To achieve this, we are offering a range of options and flexible courses that fit around people’s lives and are tailored to specific needs, circumstances, sectors, and industries.
Workpays are out and about across Worcestershire running a variety of flexible and friendly numeracy programmes. We are working with Worcestershire residents aged 19 and over who don’t have maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent), to build their confidence with numbers.
We are recruiting highly motivated and resourceful maths tutors to deliver these numeracy programmes. You will be working in local community centres and libraries, on site with employers and occasionally virtually too. Whilst we have a bank full of resources for this delivery, you will have the autonomy to tailor these to really specify them for the needs of your learners to enable them to overcome any maths barriers and improve their ability to understand and use maths to make a difference to their lives.
Ideal candidates will have experience teaching adults and a relevant teaching qualification or be willing to be supported to work towards this. Candidates must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with partners to develop the Multiply interventions across Worcestershire
- Carry out initial and diagnostic assessment to inform high quality, innovative delivery, which challenges and inspires learners and includes clear objectives, involving learners in the planning, review, and evaluation process
- Deliver effective and high quality negotiated numeracy provision across a range of ability groups (Entry 1 – Level 2) to meet all relevant academic and funding criteria and which enables learners to meet their personal learning goals
- Continuously monitor course effectiveness and assess learner development through individual learning plans to inform teaching strategies which ensure learner and programme success
- Deliver general advice and guidance with reference to progression, pre-programme information, including specification of programme entry criteria
- Produce and/or tailor relevant and motivational teaching materials, undertaking necessary research in order to deliver programmes to fulfil the needs of the learners
- Ensure all administrative procedures are kept up to date prior to, during and after the programme (i.e., keeping a register, marking work, monitoring absence, completing funding documentation) to ensure all compliance and quality procedures and funding requirements are met
- Attend and contribute to team meetings, standardisation meetings, and IQA activity as required
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain an awareness of and actively follow and promote Company policies, including, but not limited to, Safer Recruitment, Data Protection, Information Security, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and Prevent
- Undertake any training as required by Company policy and take responsibility for professional development
- Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
This is not an exhaustive list of tasks; the employee will be asked to undertake other ad hoc tasks relevant to the scope and purpose of this role. This job description reflects the present requirements of the post, and as duties and responsibilities change/develop, the job description will be reviewed and be subject to amendment in consultation with the post-holder.
