SEN Secondary Maths Teacher with Curriculum Lead
Location: Quidenham, Norwich, NR16 2NZ
Salary: £28,000 - £42,131 (M1- UPS2) plus additional expert teaching allowance of £2,500
Hours: 40 hours per week

Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Eccles School in Quidenham, Norwich are looking for a SEN Maths Teacher with Curriculum Lead. The school provides day placements for students aged 11 to 16 years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.
Main Purpose of the Role:
As our SEN Maths Teacher with Curriculum Lead, your role will be to work with our Headteacher and leadership team in all aspects of leadership and management and to take responsibility for supporting and developing the curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and enrichment across the school, but with a focus on mathematics. You will also assist the Headteacher in the work of developing our school in accordance with our shared values and school development plans.
Your duties will vary, and you will be required to carry out any other reasonable duties that the Headteacher may request in support of the running of the school from time to time.
Key Duties:
- Teach mathematics, demonstrating and modelling excellent practice.
- Work in very close partnership with and support the Headteacher and leadership team in the effective day to day management of the school and school community including (but not limited to); recruitment, developing school specific policies and implementing all relevant Aurora policies, leading assemblies and staff meetings, hosting and organising whole school events such as open days and parents’ evenings, and responding to the views, needs and requests of children, staff, parents, governors and visitors.
- To be responsible for collating evidence for specific sections of the school’s self-evaluation form, especially those relating to achievement.
- Assist the school’s achievement reviews and target setting processes by taking a major role in assessment and actively supporting and securing the students’ successes in both internal and external examinations.
- To be responsible for standards in teaching and outcomes for a team of students, teachers, and teaching assistants across all stages of development.
- Ensure the production of accurate and quality annual reviews, academic reports and other reports when required.
- For your form group, lead the completion, monitoring and reporting of students’ risk assessments and behaviour management plans.
- Promote and model good relationships with parents and carers, which are based on partnerships to support and improve students’ achievements.

Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications
- QTS or QTLS (essential)
- Accredited training in specific areas of special education, e.g., Autism, Dyslexia etc. Management/leadership qualifications.(desirable)
Experience
- Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within the secondary key stages and/or special needs environment.
- Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
- Leadership of development projects within a department or across the school.
- Effective team management and working collaboratively and effectively with others.
- Communicating effectively to a wide range of different audiences though a range of different media.
- Successful resolution of complex scenarios and conflicts.
- Experience of teaching children with autism and those with social, emotional, and mental health needs. (desirable)
- Evidence of creating and delivering effective and inspirational professional development for staff including mentoring and coaching (desirable)
Professional Knowledge and Skills
- Experience of using effective behaviour and teaching strategies.
- Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance on education at relevant key stages, attainment, progress, and assessment methods.
- Analysis of data to evaluate the performance of student groups, student progress and using this information to plan an appropriate course of action for whole school improvement.
- Experience of inspection.
- Experience of curriculum leadership action planning and resource management.
- Some experience of leading or supporting the annual appraisal process.
- Evidence of creatively approach to problem solving and identifying opportunities.
Due to the location of the school, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
