Band 3 Maternity Support Worker - Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Location: Day Assessment Unit WINCHESTER
Hrs: 34.5
Role Description: Assisting midwives and other members of the healthcare team to support women and their families in all areas of maternity care
Clinical
- To assist the midwives and support the woman, her family and colleagues through all maternity services including adverse outcomes, i.e. stillbirth, miscarriage, following appropriate training.
- To ensure a safe clinical environment and high standard of personal care for women, their babies and their families in all clinical areas.
- To assist mothers in the maintenance of personal hygiene and physical comfort at all times.
- Participate in the activities necessary to ensure safe care is provided to women ante-natally, demonstrate an ability to recognise obstetric emergencies and respond appropriately, i.e. calling for emergency help.
- Carry out, and accurately record, clinical measurements (e.g. TPR and Urinalysis) at the request of the midwife, following the relevant training.
- Assisting the midwives and support women during their visit to DAU including chaperone duties.
- Phlebotomy as required
