Materials Scientist (Metals) ABJ6690

South East c35-47k + Bonus

As metals materials scientist, chemist or physicist (with specialty in metals) you would join a global R&D team to work for creating and maintaining material specifications and managing projects. As a strong materials scientist in metals you would be collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and suppliers. The role will involve some materials metals characterisation testing in a lab environment, analyzing data, and providing technical expertise in the field of metals.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide support for the qualification and testing of metal packaging materials.

· Test samples, interpret data, write reports with clear conclusions and recommendations.

· Provide support for failure investigations of materials to support supplier claims.

· Assist with updating and maintaining all materials records to ensure they are completed according to current protocols.

· Provide support for Cr-free and new market initiatives.

· Support supplier negotiations for technical and regulatory documentation.

· Assist with improving and developing test methods for analysing the performance of packaging material.

· Support on-going improvement in materials performance through hands-on technical support.

· Liaise with the Packaging Performance team in support of the validation stage of material qualifications.

Qualifications / Experience

· Degree ((BSc/BEng/MChem/MSci), Materials science , Metallurgy, Chemistry, Physical sciences or Materials Engineering or Packaging

· Materials characterisation techniques like microscopy or (SEM), (EDX) (TEM), (FIM), (SPM), (AFM), (STM) (XRT)

· Material development, metal and coating R&D environment.

· Practical experience/knowledge in the Aluminium, foil, Steel/Tinplate

· Proven experience in researching and analysing metallic materials

· Hands-on experience with various characterization techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) analysis.

· Familiarity with manufacturing processes for metals, such as casting, forging, and heat treatment

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Experience of working with a laboratory.

· Able to successfully manage multiple projects with competing demands on resources.

Salary dependent on experience Bonus: 15% | Holiday: 25 days | Pension: Employer 9% contribution; private medical Insurance; Life Assurance; Onsite Gym
