Job Title: Associate Materials Engineer

Job Description:
As an early member of the Mantis Engineering team, you will have a unique opportunity to be the bridge between design and test; equally anchored in both disciplines with the ability to spearhead change throughout a product’s life cycle. You will be expected to troubleshoot electrical assemblies, define new processes, design fixtures/tools, and identify opportunities for improvement in products and processes. You will have the opportunity to work on and improve the wide variety of components that enable Rosotics hardware to be the simplest and most robust technologies for large-scale manufacturing. You will need strong problem-solving ability and relentless curiosity, practicing breakthrough approaches to electrical system design. As a materials engineer, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and implementing metal alloys and materials for our 3D printing process. You will collaborate with a cross-functional teams to analyze the feasibility of printer designs, provide insight on applicable industrial processes, and ensure that our materials are meeting the needs of our customers. You will also conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a cross-functional teams to ensure that our machines are meeting the needs of our customers and that we are staying ahead of the competition.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure high-quality, reliable, and scalable equipment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall company goals and objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Provide technical support to other teams, including product development and manufacturing
- Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your work, including for project delivery timelines from design through production, testing, integration, and performance.
- Challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships.
- Analyze the feasibility of printer designs,
- Provide insight on applicable industrial processes.
- Develop, test, and implement metal alloys and materials for our 3D printing process
- Ensure that our materials are meeting the needs of our customers
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in materials engineering or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in materials engineering
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of Electrical systems, including design, development, and implementation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to practically apply first principles to solve real, complex problems
- Strong technical knowledge of metal alloys and materials for additive manufacturing
- Industrial experience with metallurgy
Preferred Skills:
- Design experience with induction heating
- Experience in RND
- Experience working with in a start-up company
- Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together with the ability to assess risk and make design and development decisions without all available data
- Strong sense of accountability and integrity with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, driven, and demanding atmosphere
