ITW Air Flow Management delivers differentiated value to the North American Automotive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) by addressing industry trends of autonomous driving, display integration and customized environments. We are a producer of interior components such as Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs) and Air Registers bringing in approximately $88M of revenue.


We are part of a division with 3 locations and approximately 530+ employees in North America. Our manufacturing location are in Westminster, MA and Reynosa, Mexico. In addition, our Sales, Engineering and Product Development team are located in Troy, MI. This role will be in our Westminster Facility.

Job Description


What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Molding/Tooling Process Engineer for our Westminster, MA Facility. Westminster has about 45 employees with an annual revenue of $22M. This role requires a seasoned engineer who can work very independently, who is responsible for developing solutions for more complex process issues and determining the operational requirements to assemble products while meeting organization standards. They will need to make recommendations to existing processes that will reduce cost, risk, waste and therefore improve quality, productivity and yields. They will lead projects to design new processes. They will also analyze product specifications, drawings, test results and other engineering data. The process engineer will lead large scale projects and propose new process engineering initiatives to management. This is a hands-on role.

Job Duties:

  • Lead identification of root causes and corrective action implementation of daily production related issues across three shifts
  • Generate and maintain documentation of all internal processes
  • Work with tool makers overseas in tooling qualification process, DFM, mold flow analysis
  • Work with internal tool room technicians in tool preventative maintenance activities, tool room process improvement, tool refurbishment
  • Monitoring all new and existing injection molding processes/equipment and related efficiency, uptime and scrap metrics
  • Identify and initiate projects to improve productivity and reduce scrap/reject rates through implementation of process control or tool modifications
  • Assist to specify, purchase, set up, establish processes on injection molding machines and all ancillary equipment
  • Train production employees on process enhancements and troubleshooting methodology
  • Interface with customers and suppliers on project matters as required
  • Aid with short and long term planning for capital expenditures relating to future production requirements
  • Support projects involving new capital implementation
  • Review tooling assembly problems and re-occurring issues with production to determine root cause and lead corrective actions, revisions and continuous improvement
  • Work with production and/or maintenance to determine future improvement projects and plat layouts

Qualifications


Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with Plastic Injection Molding
  • Proficient in Solid works, AutoCAD
  • 3+ years’ experience tooling and injection molding process development

Preferred:

  • RJG Master Molder certification
  • Automotive supplier manufacturing experience

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Demonstrated project management skills to oversee projects from start to finish
  • Maintain project budgets and timing schedules and report updates to stakeholders as required
  • Direct tool shop and outside vendors to ensure tool timing is met and preventative maintenance, repairs and refurbishments are completed to satisfaction
  • Work with internal teams and external customers to understand their needs relative to current tooling and new projects
