Due to the expansion, a global manufacturer of precision components has a new vacancy for a Materials Engineer to join the team. A qualified Materials Engineer or Metallurgist, you will provide materials advice and guidance on products through inspection of products and materials testing.

Salary: £ 34,000 - £ 45,000 p.a. + pension + benefits

The Role
An experienced Materials Engineer you will undertake the preparation, testing, and examination of metallurgical specimens. Analyse results, produce reports, and make appropriate recommendations in order to ensure products are fit for purpose.
You will ensure test processes are robust and fit for purpose, checking that all machines are correctly calibrated. You will be responsible for producing technical reports and conducting detailed technical investigations in accordance with project requirements. You will carry out R&D on new materials or components and assist project teams with interpretation of metallurgy, heat treatment and associated testing regimes prior to/during contract execution.
The Person
Applicants will preferably have a degree in Materials Science or metallurgy, with a minimum of two years' experience working in industry (automotive, aerospace, energy, medical, manufacturing). You will be conversant with technical report writing, supplier and customer liaison and able to project manage research programmes.
Knowledge of heat treatment, forging and properties of a wide range of steels and alloys would be beneficial.
