Job description

Every great story has a new beginning, and yours starts here.

Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Your New Role…

The WBDUK Marketing department constantly strives to create and maintain a best-in-class marketing function with an emphasis on lifetime value of WBD content across release windows. All roles within the team are tasked with driving improved cross-divisional understanding, collaboration and expertise and in delivering an integrated approach to marketing content.

The Film and Games Marketing team is unique in the industry as it manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of lifecycle marketing campaigns on film titles across 4 windows - theatrical, premium digital, physical and traditional digital home entertainment - alongside the entire new release and catalogue games slate.

As a team, we bring to life some of the most prolific films in the market such as The Batman, Elvis and Creed 3. Alongside original IP we are responsible for marketing and growing releases from key franchises across Animation, DC Comics and Wizarding World.

In order to effectively work across such a huge slate and windows the team works in pods, collaborating across all aspects of titles. The opportunity is to lead one of these pods that number 3 or 4 people.

You will lead one of the film pods, managing roughly one third of the new release film slate. The position demands a dedicated and experienced marketer who can lead key WBD film titles through the whole new release lifecycle including key studio franchise releases.

Please note: this is a 12 month, fixed-term contract.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Direct responsibility for the communication strategy, campaign planning, implementation and evaluation of a predefined selection of titles.

  • You will be accountable for the cross divisional title P&L’s - optimizing marketing spend across all platforms, managing multi-million pound budgets and seeking synergies, insight & efficiencies.

  • Drive commercial growth through cross-divisional franchise management along a “flywheel” approach - work collaboratively with all marketing divisions and external agencies to develop and deliver against a holistic communications strategy.

  • Be a film ‘brand champion’ ensuring strong communication and collaboration across divisions including Consumer Products, Games, Theatrical & Home Ent Sales, Brand Partnerships and TV distribution.

  • It is necessary for you to work closely with Publicity as the quality and availability of talent will inform your strategy and your budgets. You will work closely with the team when setting the comms strategy for each film in your portfolio, in addition to banking material for home entertainment.

  • Manage the creation & review of all relevant marketing material.

  • Nurture effective working relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Responsible for inspiring the development and growth of your direct report and pod.

  • Identify and champion new growth opportunities across the film lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Relevant theatrical film marketing experience. Other entertainment experience will be considered but film is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management with the ability to influence people at different levels of the business.

  • Line management experience with the ability to grow and develop key talent.

  • A strategic head and an organised mind - the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • A track record of managing significant budgets and intimate knowledge of media, especially digital – you will be able to drive decisions about buying tv, outdoor, radio, press, social, digital and will be able to demonstrate experience of running multi-million pound campaigns.

  • Demonstrates a high level of commercial and financial acumen with experience in managing a P&L.

  • High level of knowledge of the ever-evolving UK home entertainment digital and physical industry to help position WB as a market leader.

  • Able to drive product, display & promotional opportunities ahead of the competition.

  • Empathy, inclusivity, open-mindedness, creativity, attention to detail.

  • A curious approach and growth mindset.

  • A passion for film and good judgement of what captures people’s attention and how to tell a story.

  • Excellent communication & presentation skills.

  • A courageous outlook and interest in what is new and innovative.
