In summer 2023 the Emerald Marketing teams in conjunction with other key departments, will be working on our annual Literati Awards. This key project helps Emerald to engage with our community of academic authors and build global brand awareness. These digital awards require input from a variety of stakeholders, colleagues and teams across the company – both in the UK and overseas, so is a great opportunity for an intern to really understand the business.
This opportunity will provide fantastic, CV-worthy learnings for an intern. The opportunity and related benefits for the successful candidate include:
The opportunity to oversee, co-ordinate and deliver a strategically critical project
Acting as the go-to person for colleagues in a number of teams across the company and world gaining an understanding of the many different roles in a publishing company
Liaising with Emerald’s author and editor communities
Undertaking a competitor research project that will be used to make real world recommendations to continue to attract the best social and applied sciences authors and editors.
A greater understanding of scholarly publishing and the motivations of our author, reviewer and editor communities
Day to day we’ll trust you to:
Liaise with colleagues from around the business – different teams and different regions. This project supports Publishing, Marketing and Sales teams.
Create and launch social media activity to promote the awards
Work with the creative team to design marketing resources such as social media images and web banners
Work with the Web Development Team to manage updates to landing pages promoting the awards and the winners
Support with copy for webpages of winners
Create and maintain spreadsheets to track nominations
Support with certificate admin
Carry out desk research to gather intelligence on competitors award programmes
You’ll need to have:
Fantastic organisation skills
An interest in digital marketing
An interest in scholarly publishing
A high attention to detail
The ability to adapt communication style to different audiences
Be a team player
Be able to work with people from different cultures and different levels of seniority
