MARKETING ASSISTANT
(June 2023 to March 2024, $26.91/hr., Temporary)
The incumbent will develop promotional materials to support museum programs. The ability to utilize
different software or tools to create promotional materials provides strong experience fora career in
arts, heritage and cultural marketing, and exhibit design. Support communications by writing articles,
editorial, media releases or social media content. The skill set developed in strategic and creative
communications will benefit a career in exhibit development, research, fundraising, administration,
and marketing. Develop graphics, video and high-quality photos that can be used for promotion. This
skill set is advantageous to career development in marketing, fundraising, education and
programming, and administration. Gather data and produce reports. This is an important skill set that
will benefit a future career in administration, visitor services, fundraising, and marketing. Support
community engagement, input and feedback so that promotions and marketing content is relevant
and inclusive of all Pickering’s residents.
- Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, business administration, arts administration,
- Previous practical experience working in an arts, heritage or cultural organization or experience
- Previous practical experience working in advertising, graphic design, or communications is an
asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative and strategic graphic design skills.
- Strong relationship building skills demonstrated through work or volunteer experience.
- Takes initiative, responsibility and is able to keep on task, time, and target.
- Highly organized, and capable of working to a high degree of detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is an asset.
