This recruitment will be used to fill a future part-time (a minimum of 10 hours per week and a maximum of 20 hours per week) Cascades Edge Event Specialist at Oregon State University-Cascades. This student position(s) will be located in Bend, Oregon.
The Cascades Edge Communications and Marketing Specialist is a student employee who will work alongside the Cascades Edge Coordinator to promote and communicate the Cascades Edge initiative to students, staff, and faculty. The Communications and Marketing Specialist will produce marketing content for Cascades Edge events, including social media images, flyers, and digital screens. They will also assist in producing and sharing campus-wide communications, including newsletters, all-student list emails, CampusGroups branding, and posters. In addition to these responsibilities, the Communications and Marketing Specialist may collaborate with other student employees in supporting Cascades Edge events, when necessary. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Cascades Edge initiative, promoting student success, and contributing to the overall success of OSU-Cascades.
Position Duties- Produce marketing collateral for Cascades Edge events: The Cascades Edge Communications and Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Cascades Edge Coordinator and student Event Specialists to design and create marketing materials that promote Cascades Edge events to the target audience. This may involve creating flyers, posters, social media graphics, and other digital assets that adhere to the OSU-Cascades brand guidelines.
- Produce campus-wide communications: The Cascades Edge Communications and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for creating and distributing campus-wide communications that promote Cascades Edge and its events. This may include creating newsletters, all-student list emails, and CampusGroups branding.
- Conduct market research: The Cascades Edge Communications and Marketing Specialist will need to stay up-to-date on industry trends and audience preferences to inform marketing strategies. This may involve conducting surveys, analyzing data, and staying informed about the latest trends in marketing and communications.
- Collaborate with other student employees: The Cascades Edge Communications and Marketing Specialist may collaborate with other student employees to provide event support, as needed.

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
- International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
- Be a current full time OSU-Cascades student or degree partnership student with OSU-Cascades and COCC with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher.
- Maintain good academic and conduct standing with OSU-Cascades.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design software.
- Experience in marketing or graphic design.
- Demonstrate basic computer literacy skills.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
- Demonstrate an ability to be professional, reliable, and punctual while representing the university in a positive manner.
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently and take initiative to complete tasks.

- Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs.
- Experience in data management and analysis.
- Experience in event planning.
- Proficiency in CampusGroups or other student engagement software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
- The position is a part-time student employment opportunity, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during summer and breaks.
- The work schedule is flexible and will be adjusted to accommodate the student’s class schedule and other academic commitments.
- Work may be performed remotely or on-campus, depending on the needs of the position and the availability of resources.
- The position requires regular collaboration and communication with campus administrators, event organizers, and other stakeholders, both in-person and virtually.
- The work environment may include attending and assisting with events and activities, which may require standing or walking for extended periods, lifting and moving equipment or materials, and working in various weather conditions.
- The position may require occasional evening or weekend work, depending on the timing and scheduling of campus events and activities.
Compensation:
This position is paid at a standard rate of $16.00/hour, up to 20 hours/week during the academic year and 40 hours/week during breaks and summer. The student employee submits a timesheet for supervisor approval on the 15th of each month and receives their paycheck on the last day of the month.
