GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Promote and protect Kirkwood’s brand identity. Invent, develop and deliver consistent integrated marketing solutions. Communicate via traditional and emerging media. Create, schedule and proof assignments using internal resources and external vendors. Maintain college brand identity standards. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the flexibility to change direction as needed to meet deadlines.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with department representatives to update annual marketing plans.
  • Provide switchboard coverage as needed.
  • Serve as emergency back-up in Print Services.
  • Coordinate marketing jobs through concept, copywriting, design, client approval, proof and print or posting.
  • Write and proof original copy, edit others’ work.
  • Balance multiple projects and timelines; reschedule jobs upon request.
  • Provide timely solutions for rush jobs and unexpected assignments.
  • Maintain a productive team working environment with designers and printers.
  • Learn new software as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Frequent (34-66%) reaching, listening to people either on the telephone or in person and viewing a computer screen and other types of close visual work. May travel to main campus facilities, off-campus facilities, and businesses to meet with College and community personnel occasionally (10-33%).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel to off-campus facilities, agencies and businesses.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Minimum two years of experience in advertising, marketing or communications preferred.
