Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Assistant, Marketing & Communications’ role will be to assist the Director, Marketing & Communications in implementing the annual marketing plan and the overall goals and objectives of the CNEA. Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide administrative support to the Director, Marketing & Communications, and the entire Marketing and Communications team.
- Assist in the development of draft content for the CNE website for approvals.
- Assist in drafting and preparation of all CNE Newsletter content for approvals from the Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
- Draft the Homepage schedule for the CNE website in conjunction with the Lead, Marketing & Communications.
- Assist in the maintenance and content of the CNE Social Media channels (as required)
- Assist in the coordination of Web/Digital content with the various departments within the organization.
- Assist the Lead, Marketing & Communications in all initiatives, including taking reservations for the HorseCapades program.
- Assist in the writing, editing, and proofing of all CNE materials.
- Organize and maintain the department’s digital photo library and photo release forms with the Lead Roving Social Media Reporter.
- Liaise with photographers and videographers.
- Process invoices and work orders.
- Maintain the department’s budget monitor.
- Arrange for the department’s radios, golf carts, uniforms and stationery.
- Liaise with third party consultants to ensure proper delivery of services.
- Assist in the organization of the Opening Day Ceremonies as required.
- Assist in preparation of the CNE Official Shop as required.
- Assist with end of year archiving.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Willingness to work in areas that may contain bright lights, loud noises and crowds of people.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have post-secondary education and/or experience in an area related to communications.
- Experience with digital media trends and behaviours.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
- Strong writing and editing skills to develop communications for multiple platforms.
- Experience with content management systems and website programming an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with an excellent ability to attend to details.
- Progressive experience in a sales office environment.
- Experience with Photoshop and Canva an asset.
- Experience using a variety of software packages including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and electronic mail.
- Ability to direct staff in coordinating and promoting events and services.
- Ability to work independently and / or in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and or holidays as required.
