Salary – £28,000 – £33,000
Contract – Full time, Permanent
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a full-time Marketing & Communications Officer to join our amazing charity. Farms for City Children exists to remove the barriers that prevent children and young people having meaningful access to the natural world. Through a week on one of our three heritage farms, children and young people experience increased learning and engagement, improved connections and wellbeing and leave us with an enhanced sense of environmental citizenship.
About the Role
The Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for producing and managing high quality content on the Farms for City Children website, social media channels, written communications and for managing media relations. Their role will promote and raise awareness of the charity to existing and potential donors, partners, schools, and groups, supporting the charity’s fundraising efforts and supporting the recruitment of new beneficiaries to the farms.
It is a great time to join the charity, with communications and fundraising taking centre stage in our new business plan and strategy. This role will play an essential part in growing our audiences and leading on our Communications Strategy.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of producing multimedia content. You will use your creative flair to tell the charity’s story across different channels and to a range of audiences. You will have a good knowledge of the digital landscape, emerging trends and SEO.
This position is a home based role with office working available. There will be occasional travel to the 3 farms throughout the year. The post holder can also work from any of our 4 locations: Head Office – Huxham Barns, Huxham, Exeter; Nethercott House, Iddesleigh, Devon; Lower Treginnis, St David’s, Pembrokeshire; Wick Court, Gloucestershire.
Appointments will not be confirmed until the Charity has received two satisfactory professional references, evidence of the existing proof of right to work in the UK, and a satisfactory DBS check. Referees will not be contacted without candidates’ prior consent.
Please see the Job Description and Person Specificationfor further details.
Farms for City Children is, and must be, unconditionally committed to safeguarding best practice and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Consequently, successful candidates will be subject to a Social Media check and a DBS check at the appropriate level. Employment with the Charity is conditional upon the Charity being satisfied with the result of the DBS Check. Successful candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration related to their criminal record or any information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. If you have lived or worked outside of the UK, additional information may be required from you to satisfy safer recruitment checks. Any criminal records information that is disclosed to the Charity will be handled in accordance with any guidance and/or code of practice published by the DBS.
