About us
Berwick Garden Centre Ltd operates three garden centres - Berwick, Dunbar, and Plantsplus, close to Blagdon, north of Newcastle. The original garden centre at Berwick began trading in 1983. Dunbar opened its doors in 2013 as a purpose-built addition to the company and finally Plantsplus was added in 2016.
The business has gone from strength to strength, and we think our garden centres are some of the best in the North East and Scotland. We are not taking that success for granted and are always looking at ways to improve our sites and our offering to our growing customer base.
We are a small family-owned group of garden centres. Each centre has its own identity and whilst we have an all-round offering including pets, giftware, garden sundries, farm shops, clothing, and restaurants, we will always ensure that the sale of first-class plants and is front and centre of what we do. At Plantsplus we also grow much of the stock that we sell in our onsite nursery.
The Role:
We have a vacancy for a Marketing Assistant who will report to our garden centre managers and operate across our three centres. The role is part time and will be based at Plantsplus Garden Centre.
The successful candidate will work closely with our Management Team, including the garden centre Managers and the Managing Director to devise and implement successful marketing strategies to help differentiate our business in a buoyant but competitive sector. The role requires a versatile individual who will relish promoting our business in multi-disciplined retail environments in three distinct locations.
Effective use of social media is a significant element of this role and the continued growth of our business. Our websites are also our shop window, and we would like to continue to showcase our fabulous centres in an enterprising manner to improve our online presence and centre footfall.
We are keen to promote our role in the Community and the role holder will play a leading role in how we interact with social, educational, and environmental causes.
The Candidate:
We are looking for a positive, creative and enthusiastic team player who will support the marketing of our group and stimulate opportunities for further growth.
Possessing at least two years' experience in a marketing type role and highly proficient in the use of social media and its various applications you will have the flair to bring our campaigns to life.
You may have an interest in gardening or be able to demonstrate how you have successfully operated in retail environments which have a synergy to our garden centre operations.
Whilst working within a team you will also be comfortable operating under your own initiative on agreed projects. Planning ahead, working to deadlines and managing your own workflows are very important.
You will be very much at home managing our social media content and internally engaging with our marketing partners to get the best value from our financial and resource investment.
Branding, in store signage, events and recruitment advertising will also feature.
