Main Purpose
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our vessels and equipment. There will be plenty of variety in the duties you will be required to perform; both on and off the vessel / pontoon. The role requires someone who is adaptable, ready to perform cleaning, maintenance and refuelling of vessels and equipment, record-keeping and assisting with the loading, unloading and the launch and recovery of various marine plant including the operation of deck equipment including scaffolding / plant and mobile elevated working platforms, to facilitate a safe environment for Engineering and or Inspection staff to carryout works. The role will also undertake “Tender” duties as part of XEIAD’s Surface supply Diving Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that safety is always the priority, promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and Safety Responsibility Matrix.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager(s) to ensure that work is planned to optimise the use of available resources.
- Be responsible for the safety of all site teams and members of staff when onboard, afloat and during launch and recovery activities including safety boat operations.
- Facilitate access for all launches, plant, and equipment necessary to undertake the support works as required.
- Undertake running repairs to marine plant if suitable and appropriate to do so.
- Undertake site recognisance to ensure that all access requirements are identified in a timely manner and then co-ordinated with the project manager, in line with the examination programme.
- Be responsible for all site team members.
- Be forward facing to the client/s and be an Xeiad ambassador to all public.
- Be willing to develop through training and time served to progress your career to a supervisory level.
- The tender is the surface member of the diving team who works closely with the diver on the bottom. At the start of a dive, the tender checks the diver's equipment and topside air supply for proper operation and dresses the diver. Once the diver is in the water, the tender constantly tends the lines to eliminate excess slack or tension.
To ensure marine plant always run safely and efficiently:
- Regular inspection and maintenance programme
- Record keeping including certificates of conformity
- Maintaining compliance – meeting compliance responsibilities by ensuring that a fleet of marine plant is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations
Aims:
- Assisting / facilitating waterborne access to structures allowing inspection teams to carryout tasks
- Develop into an integral part of a 5-man SS Diving team
- Information to provide better training and awareness for drivers
- Better safety protection and awareness
Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills:
- GCSE English and Maths
- IT Literate (Microsoft Office)
- Full driving licence
- HGV licence (preferable)
- Experienced at towing
- Confident Swimmer
- RYA Level 2 (min) Power Boat
