POSITION: Manufacturing Technician

An opportunity is available for a Manufacturing Technician, where reporting to the Coordinator you will join a team of Manufacturing Technicians whose technical skill sets are required to improve productivity and overall performance to support manufacturing.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To ensure that job setups are performed correctly and processes controlled to ensure parts production and quality demands are met. The person who is recruited for this role will therefore need to be a proactive thinker and possess excellent communication and organisational skills to make an important contribution towards the ME technician activities.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure product changes and setups are carried out safely to the required standard
  • To effectively manage Highly Marelli Mould machines & Mould operators on shift to ensure customer deliveries and quality requirements are not compromised
  • Ensure all product meets the required quality standards – carry out first off checks
  • Plan manning to ensure build plan is achieved (man map)
  • Print product labels as required
  • Conduct station observations on a shift basis
  • Maintain ILU’s for all Mould operator staff
  • Cover breaks as required
  • Manage cardboard waste
  • Apply integrity and confidentiality in all situations
  • Lead areas during stock takes / audits
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations, rules and procedures
  • Ensure all PM & PLM activities are carried out and achievement recorded
  • Ensure tooling / equipment concerns are corrected / escalated
  • Ensure that setting sheet inconsistencies are escalated to ME
  • Ensure current standard cycle times are achieved
  • Ensure tool changeover times are achieved and recorded
  • Assist in cycle time reduction and SMED activities
  • Raise concerns immediately where cycle times are not where expected and escalate appropriately.
  • Ensure product changeovers are planned to achieve shift schedule
  • Identify potential problems with equipment and tooling and raise work requests on MP2
  • Work with the Coordinators and Lead Operators to ensure that the build plan is achieved each shift, with gaps identified and counter measures put in place to allow the following shift to catch back.
  • Carrying out audits of the area and equipment and escalate any concerns to the Coordinator
  • Ensure any unsafe acts are reported and dealt with by Coordinator
  • Ensure 5S standards are maintained in area
  • Implement and support improvement plan from 5S Audit
  • Ensure start up safety checks are complete and concerns escalated
  • Ensure all KPI’s are met or exceeded as outlined in the job description
  • Ability to carry out first line fault finding and troubleshooting for any equipment or process within the Injection Mould area
  • Cross Function - Ability to support Maintenance/tooling/Quality/Production with in depth process knowledge to ensure rapid solution to equipment/tooling being unavailable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS & SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Experience in high volume manufacturing (Automotive Desirable)
  • Adhere to systems and procedures (QCDSM)
  • Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental business systems
  • Adhere to Terms and Conditions of Employment
  • Ability to carry out first line fault finding and troubleshooting for moulding issues
  • Ability to support Process Technicians when required to improve quality and reduce scrap
