The University is set in the heart of the beautiful, safe and friendly city of Lincoln, and is a forward-thinking, ambitious, international institution with high aspirations and a strong record of widening participation in Higher Education.
The Foundation Studies Centre, within the College of Science, provides a transformative foundation year (year zero) experience for students on the major degree programmes within the Schools of Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. Due to the popularity of our programmes, we are seeking a number of talented scientists to support the foundation science students in their laboratory practicals, particularly in Biology and Chemistry modules (with the potential of some Physics), providing guidance during practical activities and assessments under the leadership of the module co-ordinator.
Successful applicants will have a degree, or a strong track record, in a relevant science subject and a commitment to supporting and enthusing a diverse student cohort to thrive in Higher Education. A collegiate, dedicated approach to providing outstanding student support is essential, while experience supporting teaching in the secondary, further or higher education may be an advantage, but is not essential.
Hours will vary by negotiation but are likely to be around six hours per week, often on Mondays, on campus, during term time.
The successful applicant will report to the Director of Foundation Year Studies. Please contact Ellie Davison, [email protected] if you would like any further information about this opportunity.
