ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

Operate machinery to manufacture products required for samples and/or prototypes in supporting Product Development Teams.
What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?
Manufactures samples and products to the appropriate level of quality as requested by the Product Development Teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Working as part of a team, operate machinery to manufacture prototype samples and ensure that machinery is correctly set up, calibrated and in full operational condition prior to commencing sample manufacture.
- Review required inventory of required materials to complete requested production batch, work with Supply Chain Team as required to request and/or order additional materials as required and complete all required “In-process” quality control activities and any additional requirements as defined by the Project Quality Control Plan (QCP).
- Clean machine & equipment after every work procedure and closely follow defined work practices and/or procedures, as set out in relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or at the discretion/direction of a Lead Technician e.g. tobacco & materials availability; tobacco control (e.g. denaturing); planned maintenance; final machine settings – Clean – Inspect – Lubricate, on job completion.
- Comply with all BAT EQMS policies & practices e.g. Mastercontrol, ISO 9001 and BAT EHS Policies & Practices.
- Develop a detailed understanding of machines in-use across IDC Manufacturing.
- Maintain and monitor machine(s)/equipment to ensure correct functioning and report on machine performance, bring to the attention of Lead Technician identified issues.
- Provide the necessary support to the Lead Technician(s) in undertaking Root Cause Analysis exercises and support implementation of agreed corrective measures or for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs of production.
- General administrative support of individual projects, team & team manager and ensure all necessary documentation is completed fully, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Data processing & analysis as required on project-by-project basis.
CAN THIS BE YOUR FUTURE ROLE?
- Do you have previous experience in a manufacturing technician role?
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrable experience in the tobacco, food, light industrial manufacturing, or electrical engineering industries
- Previous technical knowledge in some manufacturing and engineering techniques resulting in a thorough knowledge of concepts, principles, methods, processes, or techniques of innovation development and/or manufacturing.
- Flexible approach to working hours as the new joiner may be required to work shifts or support other areas of production.
- Ability to act under pressure with calmness and clarity of thought and physical agility, technical ability, spatial understanding, good co-ordination and ability to handle heavy equipment and stand for an eight-hour work shift.
- Strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting and ability to handle heavy equipment.
- Team-oriented, self-directed and good communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and Standard Operating Procedures while working independently and to multitask.
- Diploma, apprenticeship, or other relevant qualification in a technology field such as Engineering or equivalent.
