MANUFACTURING SHOP OPERATIONS TEAM MANAGER
Description
We are looking for an experienced Manager to join our team specializing in Manufacturing Shop Operations for our Engine Business Segment in Darlington. The Darlington plant supplies products to customers in over 50 countries and 2022 was a landmark year with the production of the 1.5th millionth engine. We are powering the future for success by delivering record breaking revenues, appointing our first female CEO, advocating for racial equity, making a case for climate action and being named best employer for diversity. We are looking to expand our Manufacturing leadership team with this Team Manager position who will continue to lead and support the vision and future of Cummins at the Darlington plant.
This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week across 3 shift patterns. Salary is £37,000- £43,000 depending on experience plus shift allowance, individual performance merit increases and annual company performance bonus.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Manage, develop, and lead the daily activities of multiple production teams including meeting production targets and improving and challenging safety, productivity, quality and efficiency of operations.

- Supervise the daily activities of a production unit or teams.
- Responsibility for the daily activities of a production team including managing team members, housekeeping, and meeting production targets.
- Work cross functionally to recommend and engage in improving safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
- Serve as group lead on projects and work assignments.
- Provide guidance and feedback for team members in accomplishing tasks and goals; sets expectations and clarifies responsibilities.
- Coach and mentor team members.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence-based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.
Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
Manages conflict - Handling conflict situations effectively, with a minimum of noise.
Drives engagement - Creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.
Directs work - Providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
- College, university, or equivalent degree required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
