ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Shift Manufacturing Manager to lead, motivate, manage, and develop the manufacturing team to optimise capability and engagement and to meet or exceed all performance targets relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment, and People. Deputising out of hours as Senior Leader on site, taking responsibility for decision making and accountability of actions, to ensure safe and successful outcomes within the manufacturing area.   • Deliver performance, translating plant goals into individual/team performance and development plans, creating a culture of feedback, learning, growth and inclusivity.
  • Encourage and support the team to work effectively together and demonstrate McCain values in order to create a productive, customer-focused, engaging and supportive working environment
  • Implement a development and succession plan for your key talent and actively create opportunities for people to learn, grow and succeed within your team whilst creating flexibility and a strong support network.
  • Apply policies consistently and fairly using judgment, and proactively work to prevent the need for escalation.
  • Carry out managerial duties, responsibilities and accountabilities within the Company Health & Safety and Food Safety policies and other legislative requirements and audit practices, ensuring competence and compliance of self and those within span of authority.
  • Pro-actively manage production performance by leveraging best Operating Practices (BOP) and implementing appropriate actions in a timely manner. to address potential deviations.
  • Lead on collaborative decision making to meet operational efficiency (OEE) and generating associated actions across manufacturing and Engineering as appropriate.
  • Optimize production and minimize costs by leveraging knowledge of equipment and controls, taking corrective action where required.
  • Manage production costs efficiently and contribute to accurate daily cost reporting, taking responsibility for daily budget control without compromise to people safety, food safety or quality.
  • Understand the cost drivers and proactively manage the key variables that impact Total Production Cost (TPC), communicating these effectively to others, explaining variances within scope of control.
  • Produce a quality finished product, optimizing production and minimize costs by leveraging knowledge of the characteristics of incoming raw materials, equipment and controls, making adjustments or taking corrective action where required.
  • Drive and support continuous improvement focus and activity via lean manufacturing tools, techniques and principles; generating enablers and ensuring timely and cost effective completion of activities


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR…

You’ll be an experienced Operational or Senior Shift Manager, with a proven track record of delivering results and people leadership. You’ll know how important it is to drive change through people, and you’ll have the confidence to challenge and drive the continuous improvement throughout the factory. You’ll also have…

  • Food manufacturing experience within FMCG
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt knowledge (Managing Daily Improvement)
  • Health and Safety requirements within FMCG
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Excellent PC skills (also proficient in MS Packages)

WHERE WILL I WORK?

You'll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough. If you’ve spotted our three wind turbines, then you’ll know where we are! With about 400 employees on site, we’re one of our largest plants across the GB business. Our Whittlesey plant is where we make our famous French Fries as well as our chilled products, such as our Shake Shake Fries. Please note, this is a shift based role working a mixture of day and night shifts.
