Based at GSK’s Ware Research & Development (R&D) site, the Manufacturing Scientist / Operators are responsible for providing development and clinical trial material (of appropriate quality and quantity for its intended use). This is achieved through flawless execution and in accordance with timelines agreed with key customers (including Project teams, Target Patient Supply (TPS) and PSQA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufactures products in compliance with cGMP and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provides technical insight and oversight for the manufacture of supplies for Clinical Trials and other investigational purposes.
  • Performs the manufacturing process including; material dispensing, equipment set up, materials manufacture, in process checking/ sampling, production of relevant documentation and supports batch release in compliance with SOP’s and safe operating procedures.
  • Stage, set up, clean, inspect, swab equipment required for activities
  • Represents the department on multi-disciplinary teams, as necessary to ensure effective external communication.
  • Where required, provides technical insight to support the transfer of technology to manufacturing and supply-chain sites.
  • Inputs into flight plan process to ensure delivery of approved dosage forms (active, placebo or comparator) by the proposed commitment date.
  • Provides technical input into batch record templates and subsequent generation of batch records.
  • Ensures that all activities undertaken are performed in a safe and secure manner and that all relevant Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Evaluates new technologies and equipment by working with third party vendors and as Equipment Owner composes SOP’s for new and existing equipment and provides training to relevant staff.
  • Recommends process and efficiency improvements identifying cost savings and knowledge value.

Please Note: This role operates during normal working hours (eg; Monday to Friday, circa 8:30 to 17:00).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant operational laboratory and / or manufacturing experience.
  • Understands and complies with GMP requirements including; data integrity and model validation / maintenance.
  • GCSE Mathematics & English or equivalent.
  • Basic computer literacy
