Manufacturing Operator
An excellent opportunity has become available to join Kennametal as a Manufacturing Operator at our Newport facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing components within the Powder & Hot Press departments in line with company Health & Safety operating standards.
This is a physically demanding role working in a variety of conditions. Previous experience is not the main factor for this role. More important is the individual that is comfortable with physical work and working with their hands.
The Manufacturing Operator will carry out various tasks in Hot Press. These tasks will include Container Loading & storage.
Preparation of raw materials and parts.
Graphite Die maintenance.
Hot Pressing.
Graphite machining.
Processing contract pressings. Full training will be given so a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
Ensuring that Health and Safety awareness and performance meet company standards. This must include assisting risk assessment of existing and new operation and offering solutions to current problems.- Enforcing company quality procedures to ensure a supply of high-quality product consistently meets customer needs.
- Ensuring that his production area is adequately resourced in terms of raw materials and operating consumables.
- Optimising stocking levels in terms of raw materials, work in progress and finished goods.
- Maintaining efficient stock recording and process monitoring systems for the area under their control.
- Safe handling of chemicals though COSHH awareness.
- Identifying and driving through improvements in the area under his/ her control.
- Liaising with Engineering co-ordinator through the Team Leader to ensure plant availability remains at a high level. This must include the setting up of plant condition monitoring systems involving both engineering and production personnel.
- Assisting in the development of both new and existing products.
Job Requirements
Must be physically fit and comfortable working in an industrial environment- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills is essential
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
- Must be Health, Safety & Environmentally focused and promote safety in the workplace.
- Must be a team player who is able to work and operate as part of a team
- Flexibility to work shift patterns
Please note that due to manufacturing methods used at the plant (use of induction coils), this role IS NOT suitable for anyone with any metal implants in their body

Salary
Paid monthly £25.937 + 20% shift rate allowance and benefits package.
Hours of work
Working an 8-hour 3 shift pattern.
Hours of work 06.00-14.00
14.00-22.00
22.00-06.00.
