Shift Manufacturing Team Leader
Templecombe
Our Opportunity:
Due to the increase in workload the Towed Array Integrated Product Team we have a requirement to appoint a Team Leader for the manufacturing Electrical Team.
This position is within a team of personnel who are responsible for the manufacture, repair & refurbishment of around 60 Towed Array modules per year. The key driver is achievement of set customer delivery milestones.
The key focus is to ensure we provide a consistent quality product to support all our UK & Export customers.

- Design Authority/Engineers
- Customer representative for Factory Acceptance Testing
What the role has to offer:
Team Leader (Role and responsibility)
- He (or she) has as main mission is the realization of the production in accordance with the plan, quality, costs and continuous improvement of performance.
- He (or she) insures the conformity of the product to specifications.
- He (or she) manages production resources (operators skills) and equipment (capability and availability) according to plans.
- He (or she) identifies potential non-conformities.
Responsibilities
HSE
- Team Leaders are responsible to the Industrial Cell Manager (ICM) for the effective day to day operation of the facility.
- Ensure that any HSE issues or production concerns are raised to the ICM through SIM meetings
- Ensure that safe working practices are followed
- Ensure that tools and equipment are fit for purpose and checked in accordance with company and statutory requirements
Planning
- Plan, at a local level, all the jobs loaded to the shop in accordance with agreed completion dates
- Communicate progress and any adjustment to the original planned dates
Resources (Staff)
- Responsible for managing the manufacturing resources
- Development of staff
- Identifying and delivering training requirements
- Identifying and delivering staff skills to achieve 131 skill matrix
Tooling, facility and equipment
- Responsible for managing tooling, facility and equipment resources to meet the requirements of the local plan
- Identification tooling requirements meet the demands of the department
- Maximising availability
Manufacturing Activity
- Responsible for ensuring manufacturing activity is conducted to the plan whilst ensuring the process lead times, quality standards and budget hours are met.
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to Chorus process and local work instructions with main emphasis on Static Handling, Magnetic Hygiene, Maintenance and Calibration requirements
- Responsible for the success of 5S activity in the local manufacturing area
Improvement
- Contributes to continuous improvement activity to target reductions in lead time and process hours whilst maintaining exacting quality requirements
- Responsible for co-ordination of kaizen activity in the area.
- Supporting Green Belt and Black Belt projects in the manufacturing area.
Experience required:
Must have proven recorded of leadership. Ideally form a manufacturing background.
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds Electronics or equivalent.
- ONC/BTEC Electronics or equivalent Key desirable skills required for the position
