Description & Requirements

PURPOSE:

  • Understand the business situation (shipment- initiative plan- marketing strategy- etc.) and make the best decisions for the business.
  • To be the owner of your process area and drive a change to continuously improve performance and skills.
  • Take 24hr accountability for your business results and your team getting support from the wider organization.

DIMENSIONS OF THIS ROLE:

  • Production- safety- quality- people within the specified production / technology area.
  • Support the Operations Manager and influence the shift teams for delivery of improvement plans.

RESULTS:

  • Improving safety & quality metrics relating to your process area
  • Improving line/s productivity- OEE and reduction in planned and unplanned downtime events and time.
  • Strict adherence to the Daily Management Systems and Good Operational Practices by Line teams to continuously improve line performance (standard KPIs- health checks and improving output results).
  • Build autonomous teams by continuously progressing line teams skills and capability.
  • Owns results for: safety- right first time- compliance to plan- sanitation- labour cost- throughput- yield- operating systems health- hard asset improvement and team improvement.

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Personally comply with Safety standards at all times.
  • Never overlook unsafe behaviour of your people. Ensure all safety rules are complied with at all times.
  • Never overlook unsafe conditions and develop action plans to resolve in a sustainable way.
  • Prioritize safety- quality and integrity over OEE- MTBS etc.
  • Drive compliance to all FSQ standards- including Golden Rules and KHMS controls.
  • Manage and inspire employee performance- drive their retention and commitment.
  • Build and lead a strong team to perform at peak through regular 1:1s and performance planning.
  • When there is a gap in team’s results and capability- hold your Team Leaders accountable. It is essential to develop their capability to deliver the results on 7-day/24-hour basis.
  • Drive Team Leader development by providing day-to-day coaching and leveraging capability development program- such as Ownerversity- or existing functional training modules.
  • Deliver annual plan ambitions through implementation of KHMS.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Line Centric Leaders: CI Lead- Reliability Engineer- Team Leaders.
  • Engineers- QA Technicians and Operators.
  • Support functions: H&S- FSQ- HR- Finance- Planning- KHMS Site Lead.

EXPERTISE- EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Experience of operating in a fast-moving production environment.
  • On-the-floor credibility with people doing the work.
  • Experience of delivering sustainable improvement plans which have contributed to business success.
  • Personally committed to self-development required of the role.
  • Has had a line assignment in manufacturing and can operate equipment and owning an area or piece of equipment as necessary.
  • Project Management skills an advantage.
  • Lean/value stream mapping experience an advantage.

  • Ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving and ability to influence across peer group.
  • Ability to lead others and identify specific business improvement opportunities.

  • Be able to engage and motivate teams when adapting and adopting change programs.
  • Training and coaching capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and technical skills.
  • Ability to work with data and information.
