The Geospatial Engineering team provide our clients with datasets that includes aerial imagery, asset monitoring data, topographical survey or point cloud data for integration into engineering designs.


Job Description


You will support survey teams in the field to carry out topographical, rail, UAV, asset monitoring, laser scanning and surveys, learning and developing new technical skills working with UAVs, GNSS and terrestrial laser scanners.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • You will support survey teams in the field to carry out rail, UAV, asset monitoring, laser scanning and topographic surveys
  • Learn and develop technical skills working with survey equipment
  • You will assist and process geospatial datasets for clients
  • Be actively involved in all aspects of project delivery and ensure quality is delivered to clients
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all staff

The apprenticeship would be full time and you will study for a Level 3 Geospatial Surveying Technician qualification through day release to a local external training provider. The apprenticeship comprises at least 20% formal learning. Travel expenses incurred to and from college for the purposes of the course will be covered by AECOM. On completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship, you will be offered the opportunity to progress on to a Level 6 Degree apprenticeship programme to further your career.

This role will combine work-based on-the-job training and learning with further studies and provides an opportunity to develop skills within a supporting environment which encourages challenge and collaborative behaviours.

Qualifications


No experience is necessary, but the position is ideally suited to school leavers at either GCSE or A-Level standard (or equivalent) who can demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Mathematics & English
  • Clear interest in data including data management, manipulation and visualisation
  • Good team player, with ability to interact with staff at all levels
  • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
