Manufacturing Manager
Location: Uttoxeter – Elkes Biscuits
Salary up to £52,000 depending on experience
Monday to Friday (site based)
Shift: Week 1 Mon to Fri 06:30 to 14:30 and Week 2 Mon to Fri 14:00 to 22:00
Elkes Biscuits are currently recruiting for a driven and dynamic Manufacturing Manger to lead an established production team at our Uttoxeter site.
About Us:
We provide retailer own label biscuits to all the major retailers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Lidl in addition to the Elkes brand.
Elkes Biscuits has real heritage in both the local area and within the industry. In the early 1900s Samuel Elkes opened a confectionery shop in Uttoxeter and in 1928 a purpose-built biscuit factory was opened on the current site. The bakery is known for the biscuit barrel and is the home of the Malted Milk biscuits along with producing Ginger biscuits, Farley's Rusks, Custard Creams, Chocolate Digestive Bars, Oaties and Digestives.
We operate 24/7 so we’re looking for an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is driven to support the wider senior management team.
About the Role:
Reporting directly into the Factory Manager this Manufacturing Manger role will work along side two other Shift Manufacturing Managers to drive performance and improvements across our operation.
The Manufacturing Manager will be a central role for Elkes Biscuits. Leading a team of five Area Managers the position will be tasked with providing strong people management across all departments, from goods in through to goods out.
The Manufacturing Manager will be given full ownership and accountability for the operational performance of their shift and will be expected to deliver this through strong leadership and effective lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role will be key in supporting several production lines, processing areas, stores, and intake. Requiring strong communication skills and the development of effective relationships with colleagues across areas such as Technical and Engineering.
As Manufacturing Manager, you will ensure the shift is fully resourced, engaged and prioritised to deliver and exceed targets within the areas of People, Operations, Cost, and Technical performance as well as overseeing hygiene activity in the area as required.
About You:
To succeed in this Manufacturing Manager role, you will be able to demonstrate a history of effective people leadership and process improvement within a manufacturing setting. A Food Manufacturing background would be ideal, but Elkes are also open to candidates with backgrounds in other FMCG areas such as packaging, automotive and pharmaceuticals.
You will be a driven and dynamic leader with the desire to make the role your own and create a positive change within the company. As part of the recruitment process you will be asked to give evidence of past successes in driving sustainable change and performance improvements within factory teams.
IOSH, HACCP level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 qualifications would also be useful for this role but not essential, as the opportunity to gain these will be provided.
