Howdens are recruiting for an experienced Group Leader for our Panel production line at our manufacturing site in Runcorn, Cheshire.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring production targets are met with the adherence to the required quality, cost, delivery, people and health and safety metrics to support all of panel production processes. A natural leader, you will ensure your team is well-directed and will lead them effectively through regular communication, training and development.
As a Group Leader, you will be the first line of leadership and therefore will need to engage with teams extensively in line with our culture and will have the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business. The successful candidate will be a confident decision maker with a proven track record of implementing continuous improvement into a manufacturing environment.
The role:
- Monitoring and evaluating the performance of your team members and providing feedback and effective training where required
- Checking service issues and planning daily production to ensure warehouse demand is satisfied
- Maintaining safety within your area of responsibility, complying with safety controls through effective auditing, reviewing SOPs and RAs and conducting accident / near miss investigations when necessary
- Analysing KPI and OEE data to identify productivity issues and helping to form solutions and maximise opportunities for improvement
- Liaising with the maintenance departments to reduce unplanned machine downtime
- Facilitating continuous improvement workshops and making effective decisions based on financial performance, labour, overheads and waste
- Monitoring and maintaining 5S standards across the panel production lines
Do you have?
- Demonstrable experience working in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment with multiple production lines
- Experience and knowledge of cutting edge and lean manufacturing techniques
- A proven track record of influencing positive and encouraging team behaviour
- Strong problem solving, decision making and change management skills
- A professional attitude and can think proactively on your own initiative
- The ability to remain calm and under pressure in a deadline-focused environment and able to adapt to the changing demands of the business
Shift Pattern:
- 3 shift rotation (1 week days 7am-3pm, 1 week nights 11pm-7am, 1 week afternoons 3pm-11pm)
