About the role and the site

BD Swindon is a manufacturing site in Wiltshire with approx. 500 employees and it is part of the

Pharmaceutical Systems group (PS).

We support the management of diabetes.

Our products on site are: Vystra - dosing pen, Physioject - self-injection and other drug delivery systems.

We are recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer who will work as part of the operational engineering team to improve existing Automated assembly processes. You will also provide fault-finding identification, correction, and process improvement, along with supporting validation, and documentation requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and implement improvements to existing automation in mechanical assembly.
• Understanding of electrical maintenance is required (having an appropriate electrical qualification i.e NVQ/City & Guilds)
• Preparing and implementing proposals for process improvements relating to Safety/Reliability, OEE improvement, Quality, Scrap reduction
• Experience in fault finding, Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, PLCs
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Fully document trials/validations and work in accordance with internal procedures, GMP and Regulatory Controls.
• Training of technical resources.

About you

• The successful candidate will ideally qualified in a time served engineering apprenticeship scheme, educated at the HNC level and have proven experience in high-volume automated manufacturing.
• Manufacturing Engineer with min of 3 years’ experience
• Demonstrating strong mechanical capability, experience, of implementing process improvements on automated assembly processes.
• Experienced in systematic fault finding on a range of automated equipment, both at assembly and component level.
• Structured and controlled working practices with clear and accurate documentation, reporting and presentation skills.
• Supporting customer complaints investigations using FMEA, change control and implementation of solution;
• Understanding of PLC systems/logic.
