Salary: Grade 21

Location : Shrewsbury

Up to 10% Bonus

Job Opportunity:

Manufacturing Engineer, Small Engines, and Transmissions: Supervision of small team, responsible for developing and implementing new and improved manufacturing equipment, materials, processes, and methods to improve quality and reduce costs of company operations.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develops, analyses, and manages Manufacturing/ Assembly Projects.
  • Engages in creative problem solving to address operational issues including ergonomic/ safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, quality concerns.
  • Develop project proposals by creating cost estimates, technical specifications, identifying and qualifying suppliers, soliciting bids from qualified suppliers, performing project site audits, developing technical evaluations, and work area layouts.
  • Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to develop and deliver efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
  • Provide capital forecasting correlation and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, capacity increases, equipment and/or systems replacement, and methods and/or process improvements.
  • Manage executing capital projects from concept to implementation for new processes, assembly, test, tooling, etc. for assigned area.
  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD and Solid Modelling to plan/maintain Facility Diagrams and design jigs/fixtures or special tooling.
  • Provide manufacturing technical support in process control and internal certification.
  • Design and Develop process documentation and Standard of Work in accordance with build process.
  • Trains new Processors and develops training programs for Processors and Assemblers.
  • Support of current process, production, and component process changes are in scope.
  • Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.
  • Other activities include participating in 6 Sigma initiatives, strategy development, and supporting cost reduction goals.

Skills and Experience:

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Minimum HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering,
  • 2-3 year experience in a similar role
  • Experience of using AUTOCAD and/or 3D solid modelling (CREO etc)
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts, lean manufacturing, process documentation

Desired skills and experience through previous roles

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and project planning skill. Experience of FMEA's, SPC, Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, Error Proofing, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Lean qualification, (6 Sigma, Lean practitioner)
