Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear
Salary: £50,000 – £63,000 inc shift premium, dependent on shift pattern (min basic pay of £40,049)
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the day-to-day manufacture of products and the delivery of the Washington Manufacturing Schedule
- Ensuring processes are sustained, improved and developed to achieve manufacturing targets for safety, quality, cost and delivery
- Responsible for the successful introduction of new products into a manufacturing process
- Cooperate with other functions, including Safety, Quality, Procurement and Engineering to successfully tackle production issues
- Support Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and initiatives using lean principles and modern manufacturing techniques
- Overall responsibility for the health and safety of the designated manufacturing area
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- HNC/HND/Degree qualified in Engineering/Operations or time served apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or similar discipline
- Experience implementing and sustaining continuous improvement activities in a Manufacturing environment
Desirable:
- Qualified in NEBOSH/IOSH or working towards is highly desirable
- Experience in any of the following areas is highly desirable: metal forming, general machining, fabrication and paint finishing/surface treatments
- Green/Yellow belt (or above) Six Sigma

Our Manufacturing Team:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the manufacturing function at our Washington site to safely, reliably and efficiently meet the daily business expectations in terms of SHE, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People for the delivery of ammunition components.
We have several vacancies available due to the continued expansion across our Land UK sites with BAE Systems securing new orders for the supply of munitions to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD).
