We're looking for a Manufacturing Assistant to join our Wafer/Array Fab Team in the Detectors Business Area in Southampton.
The Detectors Business Area has a rich heritage in world-leading processes to deliver innovative, high-performing and cost-competitive Electro-Optic products into a global market within an environment built on respect for our people, their diversity, skills and experience.
Working as part of the Wafer/Array Fab Team team, you will perform Wafer/Array Fab processing and test operations in accordance with manufacturing instructions and process controls. The tasks will be varied and working within a low to high volume, Clean Room environment. The role will be carried out to meet internal and external customer expectations in terms of Quality, Cost and Delivery.

What you will do
- Manufacture high quality Wafer/Array Fabricated Assemblies, in accordance with manufacturing instructions and process controls and in an efficient and effective manner to support build and on time delivery of product
- To promote a spirit of teamwork and a continuous improvement environment, to reduce manufacturing cost and improve service to internal and external customers.
- Perform tasks in a manner, which satisfy lead-time, yield and quality constraints.
- To work with engineering staff, as required, to improve processes, reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- To maintain process control charts and other measures of efficiency as may be required.
- To follow safe working practices and ensure safety and quality standards are maintained to required levels.

What we are looking for
Essential:
- Able to quickly perform tasks and perform well with small items of high value
- Excellent hand-eye co-ordination
- Capable of repeatable, high accuracy output
- Ability to work in a close team environment
- Ability to read and understand written instruction and to record the work performed as required
Desirable:
Computer Literate – Basic Word, Excel, data input etc- Proficient in the use of SAP
- Able to work in a low supervision environment and take responsibility for targets set by supervisory staff on a daily or weekly basis
- Ability to accept instruction and to pass skills on to others as required
- Confident in assisting in continuous process improvement
