We are seeking a Managing Director to join our fast-growing Digital Investigations & Discovery (DI&D) group in London. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to adopt a leadership role within the eDiscovery team, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of traditional consultancies. The ideal person for this role will need to have a strong grasp of eDiscovery and Legal Technology, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.


Job Description:

J.S. Held’s Global Investigations Practice provides companies, legal counsel, financial institutions, and other organizations with the information required to make well-informed business decisions. Our team is retained to advise in multi-jurisdictional business transactions and investments, regulatory inquiries, compliance issues, and legal proceedings. With experts located across the globe, we support clients in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.


Our DI&D team, situated within our Global Investigations Practice has an opening available at the Managing Director level. The candidate will join an experienced and closely-knit team of technology professionals, with deep experience in handling complex, bespoke engagements.


Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with DI&D leadership to drive growth within the eDiscovery and LawTech service offerings
  • Spearhead the development of our eDiscovery capability in conjunction with the UK DI&D lead. Drive our talent, innovation and eminence strategy to grow the eDiscovery business
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for all eDiscovery engagements driving effective project delivery, risk management and client relationship management. Execute technical delivery where required.
  • Lead the development of a preeminent technical capability using platforms such as Relativity, DISCO and Reveal
  • Take a critical role in our go-to-market activities, developing lasting client relationships, building market eminence and undertaking best-in-class pursuit management activities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support and develop go to market objectives within DI&D, Global Investigations and across the wider firm.
  • Contribute to the pastoral and operational leadership of the wider DI&D team. Including the mentorship and coaching of team members
  • Collaborate with the global team on other project-based work, across all industries and geographies

We are looking for candidates possessing:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the courage to lead
  • An aptitude for building trust, relationships and rapport
  • A passion for consulting and team building;

Attributes & Background:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in the eDiscovery consulting or legal industry
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Experience of leading large international eDiscovery projects for blue chip clients and top-tier law firms. Experience of leading consulting advisory projects in the LawTech or Risk Advisory domains.
  • Excellent client relationship, team management and communication skills.
  • A track record of leading go-to-market initiatives and complex pursuits.

Experience with eDiscovery tools such as Relativity, Disco, Nuix, Brainspace, Reveal, IPro, Concordance, etc. Experience across the EDRM.

  • Demonstrable success of delivering innovation initiatives and publishing thought-leadership
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong organization and risk management skills
