About Korean Community Center of the East Bay (KCCEB)

KCCEB has been providing culturally responsive services to Bay Area Koreans and other immigrant populations since the 1970s. Today, it is a Community Hub providing 14 programs to more than 10,000 Asian immigrants and their families and. With 20 bilingual and bicultural staff members, we are a recognized leader in the health equity arena through our unique integration of direct services, research and advocacy, and coalition building. KCCEB’s Capacity Initiative

KCCEB has grown significantly in the last 10 years, driven mostly by government contracts and grants. This funding has supported exponential program growth but has left a gap to support increased operational needs. To build organizational sustainability, KCCEB started a 5-year capacity building initiative in 2022. The overall goal of this initiative is to diversify KCCEB’s revenue sources, specifically through community philanthropy and earned income.

We are in the process of redefining the organization’s brand to better reflect our scope of programs and communities served. We will also engage in explicit and strategic communications on our new brand in order to grow our individual donor base in the next 3 years.

About the Position

Manager of Communications and Philanthropy (MCP) serves as the principal fundraising and hands-on marketing officer. In partnership with the Executive Director, the Manager of Communications and Philanthropy will oversee marketing, communications and individual donor development. The MCP is responsible for generating increased revenue from individual donors and local businesses and the provision of efficient and effective brand marketing programs. We are seeking an individual who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and who has a passion for tactical and detailed marketing execution.

Responsibilities

● Work with the Executive Director and Development Consultant to develop the strategies, annual plan and budget for the organization’s individual donor fundraising program.

● Partner with the Executive Director and other staff to implement individual donor fundraising efforts.

● Identify, research, and engage new potential donors.

● Manage and update donor data in SalesForce database.

● Establish and manage donor engagement activities to ensure that new donors are welcomed, acknowledged and recognized; and that all donors have opportunities to increase their support, and enjoy a close relationship to the agency.

● Enhance KCCEB’s culture of philanthropy by involving KCCEB staff and volunteers in meaningful opportunities to build community with donors.

● Assist, where necessary, in the planning and production of fundraising and community-building events.

● Oversee the organization’s Social Media presence, including Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and managing our website, including the development of new and engaging content.

● Create written and graphically superior marketing materials.

Qualifications

● Alignment with the KCCEB’s mission.

● Bachelor’s degree required. Masters preferred.

● A minimum of three (3) years experience in fundraising and marketing with non-profit organizations.

● A motivated self-starter who takes initiative and is willing to pitch in where needed.

● Great planning, project management, and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize and pursue big picture goals.

● A creative eye for effective visual design, including composition and color.

● Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with diverse people, internally and externally.

● Effective at collaboration and working with others to reach common goals and objectives

● Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications. Ability to crystalize and communicate complex ideas succinctly and accurately. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences.

● Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing programs and online design and publishing software is required.

● Experience with SalesForce or a similar donor database is preferred.

● Bilingual Korean and English is preferred.

Compensation and benefits

● Salary range: $70K-$75K. Commensurate with background and experience.
