What You’ll get to Do:
Northrop Grumman Marines Systems specializes in the development, manufacture assembly and testing of propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The Final Assembly Supervisor 2 will supervise the factory hourly assembly mechanics, electricians and production support team in the assembly, test and shipment of high quality, low volume, large electro-mechanical fabricated structures with complex controls for the Marine Propulsion and Power Generation SBU. This position will also interface with Sr. Operations Leadership, a variety of engineering disciplines, and end customers for the products their team produces and delivers.
The Business Operations Manager for the Operations team within Marine Systems will support the Senior Director of Manufacturing, other Manufacturing Directors, and site IPT Operations Directors (Quality & Missions Excellence and Global Supply Chain), as well as liaison with the division leadership team to manage all business operational aspects of the MLSS Operations organization. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. The position will report directly to the Senior Director of Manufacturing and will have a limited number of direct reports supporting specific assignments.
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Capital - Support all aspects of the management, preparation, and execution of the Capital planning and methodology process for the Manufacturing and Operations teams while coordinating with local Facilities and with division resources. Monitor project performance and provide status reports as required. Ensure all activities are aligned with project objectives and delivered on time and within budget. Provide Long Range Strategic Plan (LRSP) Capital Planning support as required.
- MTA and IR&D - Support all aspects of the management, preparation, and execution of Manufacturing Technical Activities (MTA) and as a sub-category of Non-Contractual Technical Activities (NCTA) aimed at enhancing processes. Monitor project performance and provide status reports as required. Ensure all activities are aligned with project objectives and delivered on time and within budget.
- Operations Performance – Manage the division performance to KPI’s established by the MS Sector. Communicate changes, provide lessons learned, shape targets for division and sector, and develop/track RTG plans at the site and division level.
- Material Receipt Forecasting – Identify, communicate, and manage baseline target for material receipts by month/quarter/year for the division and each site. Track performance to AOP, coordinate opportunities across sites to balance sales performance at the division level, and communicate division sales goals for the division.
- Operations Strategy – Provide strategic insight and support to accomplish functional goals. Align closely with Operations site leads to align division strategy with site strategy. Develop long-term strategies to support growth initiatives for division.
- Division Initiative Support – Serve as divisional focal point for various initiatives such as World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Digital Transformation (DT), Facility planning, and Superior Technology, Affordability and Resiliency (STAR), etc.
- Staff Meeting Coordination – Develop staff meeting presentations, identify special topics for the team, and coordinate inputs monthly.
- Division and Customer Comms & Reviews – Coordinate and obtain monthly inputs for key engagements with Sector, Ops and Customer engagements. Develop and obtain content to support such activities as Business Unit Reviews (BUR), bi-monthly MS Sector Operations Leadership Reviews, Integrated Enterprise Programs (IEP) with customers, etc.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of relevant work experience, Master's Degree with 7+ years of experience; PhD with 4+ years of experience (Note: an additional 4+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to conduct presentations to upper/executive management.
- Ability to effectively self-manage competing priorities and deadlines while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated effectivity in driving change and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of financial management and financial reporting tools/systems.
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master's degree (or currently pursuing) Business, Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.
- Demonstrated experience with cross campus/sector, or multi-discipline, collaboration.
- Experience in managing multiple projects of various complexity.
