Job Description:
Grant Thornton International Ltd (GTIL) is the umbrella legal entity for the Grant Thornton global network of member firms. GTIL sets the strategic direction, convenes member firms, connects global communities, and protects the brand and reputation of the network. GTIL also provides a range of support to member firms and their engagement teams across key strategic areas. GTIL and the member firms will continually improve the sustainability of their operations and strive to make a positive impact on clients, people, markets, and the communities in which we operate, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Role Purpose
This role sits within the International Business Support Function (IBSF). The Function exists to support member firms strategically pursue and win international opportunities. In doing so, the IBSF will create an improved member firm and client pursuit experience.
Key areas of focus within the IBSF include;
Support member firms in responding to international opportunities- Create and own material to support member firms work through the sales funnel – strategic positioning, pre-pitch, proposal and post pitch support.
- Maintenance of the international targets tool and execution of the network channel choice policy
- Development and maintenance of IBSF intranet and ProposalHub
- Supporting the pursuit process with best practice strategic advice
This role will support our member firms worldwide in accessing the latest international credentials, insights and business development best practices. The role holder will work closely with the associate director and the wider team and will play an important role in keeping information up-to-date, implementing processes and expanding our centre of excellence resources, accessed via our global intranet ‘Connect’. Ultimately, the aim is to support our firms such that they have the best chance of winning international work in their chosen markets.
Key areas of focus include:
Supporting member firms in responding to international opportunities with a focus on best practice advice and collaboration- Gathering and analysis of proposal relevant data from firms to support cross-border proposals
- Identifying, sharing and helping firms to embed effective go-to-market practices – to help front-line teams be more successful before, during and after a proposal
- Working closely with our content team to update our credentials, insights, proof points and supporting assets, making them simple to access
- Helping to drive the team’s communications and overall awareness with our international network
- Supporting the wider international business team within GTIL
Main Responsibilities
Support IBSF Associate Directors with programmes to grow and protect international business in the Grant Thornton network.
This includes:
Pursuits
- Being a central point of contact globally for global pursuits by working with lead member firms on large and complex cross border opportunities.
- Coordinating and convening global proposal teams to support lead firms to win international business
- Monitoring and tracking pursuit progress and reporting to IBSF Associate Director
- Working with central hub support team to gather data across the network
- Gain input from stakeholders across the network (including internationally active partners, International Business Centres, service lines and others) to address any barriers to collaborating around international business
- Providing best practice advice and guidance on pursuits
- Supporting on the execution of policies pertaining to pursuit best practice.
Knowledge management
- Prepare and upload information to the ProposalHub international proposal resource centre and Empower cloud library - ensuring accuracy and consistency of format (in line with guidance from IBSF Associate Director)
- Help optimise the ongoing role of our outsourced international pursuit and proposal support Hub team (based in India), focusing their outputs and projects on areas of greatest impact
- Address ad hoc stakeholder queries, helping them to locate required information and access technology platforms
- Working with the pursuit content associate director to design an evolved approach to producing international client references, case studies and richer credentials
- tracking, analytics and reporting on usage of IBSF resources on Connect
- Work in line with defined information governance framework
Strategic support
- Supporting and developing the senior associate in maintaining and expanding information regarding member firms’ capabilities, key facts, rate cards etc on a structured, ongoing basis - briefing and collaborating with outsourced Hub support team as needed
- Critically reviewing the documents, placemats and templated slides created by the pursuit content team to ensure it meets the needs of international pursuits
- Identify and fill any information gaps by collaborating the pursuit content team and necessary stakeholders
- Help synthesise client and post-proposal feedback from firms, in order to identify recurring themes and action points
- Contribute to annual ClientVoice global client feedback benchmarking exercise
- Seek firms’ feedback to continually optimise the process around IBSF and GTIL support to major international opportunities
People
- Help build the professional reputation of the International Business Support Function
- Build personal network with International Business Centre community, communications, BD and pursuits specialists from across Grant Thornton
- Proactively collaborate with others in GTIL including Communications, Network Capabilities team, Brand, Digital Marketing and service lines
- Identify opportunities for the International Business Support Function to provide added value to the global network and the member firms within it
- Work in line with the organisation's values of collaboration, leadership, excellence, agility, respect and responsibility
- Support in the development of junior members of the team
- Work collaboratively across the international business support function to build visibility of community of network contacts involved in international business.
Person Specification
- Educated to degree level or holding a professional marketing qualification such as CIM
- Demonstrable experience in Marketing / BD role
- Strong relationship building skills across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven ability to contribute effectively to a team
- Involvement in managing large, cross-border proposals. Experience coaching senior colleagues an asset
- Self-starter with the ability and confidence to develop and implement their own projects and workload
- Solid project management experience and an ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
- Strong writing and editing skills to create compelling and clear communications
- Good organisation and time management skills and an ability to manage multiple projects
- Curious mind and interest in business related topics and research.
Desirable experience
- Familiarity with client journey design and client experience strategies
- Experience and ease working with technology systems (content/knowledge management systems) in marketing roles
- Experience in a financial, business to business or professional services environment
- Experience of using Adobe packages, especially InDesign and Premiere Pro
