The Privacy Team provides advice and guidance to the business, ensuring that personal data risks are managed, and appropriate controls and mitigations are in place when processing personal data of employees, clients and beyond. We also work closely with the Office of the DPO to ensure that individual rights are upheld in line with UK law. Our team enables the business to understand and meet regulatory data protection obligations, reducing potential risk to the firm.

We are looking for an experienced Manager to lead privacy assessments of strategic global technology projects, collaborating with a network of global, North and South Europe (NSE) and Geography stakeholders. This vital role is part of the Data Privacy team within Deloitte Business Security, a specialist function of Quality Risk and Security responsible for advising the Firm to enable secure business, manage data risk and ensure it meets its data protection obligations in line with UK law.

You’re a natural at working with a broad range of stakeholders, problem solving and someone who brings out the best in others. You’ll have experience in a data protection role, with an excellent understanding of UK and EU Data Protection legislation (GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). Experience in advising on complex privacy queries, conducting DPIAs and in depth privacy knowledge is a must.

  • Advising on complex privacy queries from our business functions and embedding good practice across the UK/NSE; building ‘trusted advisor’ status with stakeholders
  • Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
  • Liaising with multiple stakeholders and teams across NSE, Enabling Functions, Service Lines, Quality, Risk and Security, including OGC, HR and Technology SMEs as required to complete Data Risk Reviews
  • Confidence in presenting in person and online to senior stakeholders to summarise privacy risks and suggest pragmatic solutions to problems
  • Willinging to develop knowledge of confidentiality risk and be able to assess this as part their reviews.
  • Creation of Data Privacy Impact Assessments where we are processing high risk personal data to enable business opportunities whilst meeting our regulatory obligations
  • Creation of Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) as required
  • Leading delivery of key privacy projects and supporting our Privacy Lead and Operations Lead with operational aspects as required
  • Where the need arises, supporting the incident and breach response management process

Your essential skills will include:

  • Experience of and demonstrable interest in data protection
  • Previous people management experience
  • Organised self-starter, effectively managing your workload and that of more junior team members to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders and the ability to interact confidently with people at all levels of the firm, both in person and remotely
  • Ability to:
    • Make sound judgements regarding data protection risks
    • Interpret legislation and develop subject specific guidance/advice
    • Conduct research, analyse results, and practically apply to real life scenarios
    • Distil complex matters and communicate clearly to non-subject matter experts
    • Collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds whose first language may not be english
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Rapid assimilation of information, with the ability to work well under time pressure
  • Flexible multi-tasker: this is a dynamic role and you’ll be working on multiple, often complex pieces of work at the same time
  • A good level of IT user ability, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Confidence working seamlessly within a cross-location team
  • CIPP/E qualification or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Legal training and experience
  • Experience of reviewing Data Protection clauses within agreements
  • Understanding of compliance, risk, information security and confidentiality
  • Previous client service or project management experience
  • Interest in technology/technology literate
