This position sits within one of the UKs leading TV/Media Production & Distribution companies, known for producing and selling a huge array of award winning programmes to global audiences. This is a critical role within the finance team that will support the distribution business division alongside wider TV Production arm and requires a qualified individual who ideally has relevant industry experience.
Reporting into the Head of Finance, this interesting and varied position will oversee the duties of a Finance Assistant and is a real blend of Management Accounting and Business Partnering.
This position will give you an opportunity to take responsibility for your area, building strong working relationships with the business, through completing both month end duties the providing financial support for business decisions and growth.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with finance experience gained within a media or entertainment business, preferably with good working knowledge of royalties within TV/Media distribution.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Prepare monthly management accounts including variance analysis
- Manage and mentor an Accounts Assistant
- Full preparation of the financial forecasts
- Support the sales team for any required analysis or finance related queries
- Biannual residual and participation reporting
- Revenue recognition and profitability reporting for multiple revenue streams in relation to sales and IP exploitation
- Control the balance sheet for the Distribution business including debtors, creditors, cash flow, accrued income and accruals
- Prepare VAT Returns
- Liaise with Business Affairs/Legal regarding financial terms during the sales process
- Lead on the annual audit process for the division
Candidate requirements include:
- Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
- Experience ideally gained within TV/Distribution/Media/Entertainment or similar industry
- Must be able to prepare full sets of management accounts
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with all levels of people
- Advanced Excel: pivot tables, v-lookups, able to utilise models etc
- Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines
- Strong team player
- A genuine interest in TV & Film
- Highly motivated, logical approach, ‘can-do’ attitude
