Location – Warrington with hybrid working
Full Time, Permanent
£55,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
The Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC), which covers two regions being Northwest (NW) and Midlands & East of England (MEE), represents one of the largest in Serco Group and has a dynamic operating environment given the nature / changing scale of the services, providing accommodation and associated services for asylum seekers, on behalf of the Home Office. This is one of two roles (one for each of NW and MEE regions) reporting to the Finance Business Partner for NW and MEE regions.
In this key role, you will support Serco business leaders to deliver profitable and sustainable growth for services. Day to day this means working with Operational teams to develop, populate and refine cost models and provide the region with an accurate picture of the historic and future financial performance to satisfy internal reporting/governance requirements.
As part of this you’ll:
Work within the AASC Finance Team to provide high quality and accurate financial analysis and forecasting support
Hold responsibility for ensuring financial modelling is performed in accordance with best practice, high standards of integrity as well as applicable accounting standards and that cost capture and risk identification is comprehensive
Accurately deliver financial forecasting models to the AASC and operational contract support as required
Understand actual v forecast variances to feed back into improved model assumptions
Challenge assumptions and make recommendations for efficiency improvements to sustain and grow profitability
Provide continuous improvement activities for the AASC Finance Team as a whole, such as cost reduction/profit enhancement initiatives, process improvement, cost model enhancements, and scenario planning to determine a range of potential financial outcomes
What you’ll need to do the role:
You will need to be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (with a recognised accounting body such as ACA, ACCA, ACMA)
Experience in delivering accurate financial forecasting to a business or large contract on a regular basis, ideally monthly
Demonstrable experience in undertaking a range of quantitative analysis required to develop cost assumptions, understand trends and influence business unit stakeholders to affect outcomes
Highly effective organisation skills, allowing you to balance competing demands and workload peaks
Excellent Excel skills, preferably including development of forecast models
Exemplary interpersonal skills shown through ability to influence stakeholders from various disciplines, challenge assumptions and shape outcomes
