Elevation Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be working alongside a leading business based in Harrogate. It is an exciting time for this organisation and, due to continued growth, they are looking for an Management Accountant to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.
Our client is seeking an experienced Management Accountant who will have responsibility for the ownership and detailed analysis of the monthly and annual management accounts, prior to the review of the Senior Management Accountant.
Key Responsibilities of the Management Accountant:
- Lead on accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and client-based reconciliations applying the correct accounting practice
- Profit Margin Analysis according to the commercial contract
- Read and dissect commercial contracts to extract relevant information and communicate effectively produce monthly management accounts
- Maintain Balance Sheet reconciliations for all balance sheet codes
- Manage Payroll and Expenses process ensuring accurate accounts
- Primary contact for internal accounting queries for the expanding property portfolio
- Use commercial acumen to identify opportunities
- Analyse key variances that drive movements in the financial accounts and make recommendations
- Support in the review, analysis, and production of the annual property budgets
- Identifying opportunities for streamlining and improvements ensuring accuracy of numbers
- Assist in monitoring of KPI targets for the team and produce action plans
- Support the Assistant Management Accountants in the development of their knowledge and skills
- Encourage innovation within the corporate finance team on reporting techniques and process efficiencies
- Maintain and build key relationships with stakeholders across the business
- Manage the relationship with our external utility broker
- Monthly meetings with Operational team to understand the cost drivers within the business, gain an understanding of potential savings and challenge any overspend
- Support with the annual external audit
- Ad-hoc project work and other tasks as required
- To support and maintain best practice regarding GDPR
- To keep up to date with industry initiatives to enable best practice to be always adopted.
The above outlines the main duties and responsibilities of the position, however, this cannot be comprehensive and other duties, as directed by the company and within the job holders capabilities may be required. The duties will evolve and be modified by changes within the company. Although the standard hours of the position are 40, the senior roles are expected to be flexible and work the hours required to complete the role.
Experienced and Qualifications:
- AAT Accounting Qualification or studying towards a Professional Accounting Qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant Accounting/Finance Function
- Experience in designing and implementing automated reports/processes
- Good organisational skills and can work in a methodical manner
- Time management skills
- Proven track record in all areas of accounts
