We have a fantastic opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Group – Highways Finance team in Cardiff on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. This role offers Hybrid working with a main base in Moy Road, Cardiff.
The purpose of the management account is to provide financial support to the Finance Managers, ensuring that both internal and external accounting and reporting requirements are delivered, and control standards are met.
As the Management Accountant, you will be directly working in a team of 2 Finance Managers and 3 Management accountants and be working alongside the wider Rail Finance Team.
The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours based on Monday – Friday.

You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Finance Manager with the Transformation month end
- Preparing monthly management accounts for Transformation
- Supporting with Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Investigating historical results, ensuring all results are in line with client contract
- Monthly WIP Reconciliations
- Proactively supporting the commercial and operational team under the new business essentials model
- Providing ad hoc management information for finance and non-finance teams
- Monthly Cost reconciliations – managing cost transfers between packages
- Supporting internal and external audit requests where applicable
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Newly qualified CIMA, ACCA or qualified by experience
- Good knowledge of accounting practices, statutory regulations and reporting requirements and experience of forecasting
- People management experience with good leaderships skills
- Ability to work well under pressure, in a busy, ever changing environment
- Experience in Profit centre reporting and variance analysis
- Experience working in a high volume, transactional setting
- Competent Microsoft applications user, particularly Excel
- Willing to travel to contracts to meet with Finance Managers as and when required
