Maintenance Technician – Plumber
Full Time
40 hours per week 9am – 5pm
Working 5 days over 7 to include weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis
£25,000 - £28,000 per annum
Plus, on top of your salary you can earn up to £400 service charge per quarter
(based on eligibility)
Due to an increased workload we are now recruiting a qualified plumber who will be responsible to the Head of Buildings. The job involves carrying out maintenance and upkeep work on the buildings of the Swinton Estate including farms, residential properties, hotel, spa, Bivouac glamping site and staff accommodation.
The position is 5 days 40 hours which will include weekends and bank holidays on a rota, the role will also have an out of hours on call rota. Normal hours on any working day no matter week, weekend or bank holiday will be 9.00a.m. to 5.00p.m.

Constantly developing we boast Swinton Park, a luxury traditional castle hotel with 42 bedrooms, two holiday cottages and award winning Samuel’s Restaurant; a luxurious country club and spa including the contemporary Terrace Restaurant; Swinton Bivouac a glamping site with tree lodges, yurts and café, and last but by no means least the Swinton cookery school.
Essential Requirements include:
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- NVQ level 3 trade specifications in plumbing
- UK Driving Licence
- Have at least 3 years’ experience
- Willingness to obtain a thorough knowledge of the Fire Precautions Act 1974
Other Requirements include:
- Pool plant maintenance
- Be familiar with production of risk and method statements and point of work risk assessments and fully encourage/support the use and filing of associated paperwork.
- Evidence of attendance on an H&S course.
- Ability to work collaboratively and courteously when carrying out instructions, being keen to learn and ask for help and assist others within and outside the immediate department.
- Ability to organise self, work under pressure and without supervision.
- ‘Make it happen’ by taking ownership for getting things done and working seamlessly with others to complete the task in hand.
Training in these areas will be given if necessary.
Key Responsibilities Include
- To maintain the efficient operation of all equipment associated with boilers and plant
- Water treatments and monitoring
- Mechanical ventilation plant.
- Attending all statutory health and safety training as required.
- The implementation and ongoing monitoring of an energy conservation policy.
- Keeping up to date with all planned maintenance tasks, including logbooks and coordination of all external contractors, making sure certification for those task that require it are recorded in hard copy and electronically in the correct folder(s)
- Keep sufficient stocks of consumable goods for use in the case of general maintenance or emergencies (stock items purchases) or to be approved by Head of Buildings (HoB)
- Ensure that all drains and sewage systems are fully operational and functioning correctly and relevant planned maintenance is met and carried out
- Monitor the performance of maintenance contracts in liaison with the HoB and in accordance with Company policy and legal requirements.
- Ensure that policies with regard to pressure vessels are maintained in accordance with insurance requirements.
- As and when required, liaise with the HoB and Local Authorities regarding any form of planning consent, building control and regulations relating to a localised work before it is implemented.
- Be prepared for the out of hours call outs, as and when necessary, due to emergencies that may rise unexpectedly.
- Attend heads of department meetings, training sessions as and when requested HoB
- To attend all training courses as scheduled and instructed to do so & attend all statutory health and safety training as required
