About the Opportunity
Jacobs are recruiting for Technicians to Join our EDF framework delivery team. The Generation Services business team supports our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with regards their nuclear fleet in the UK. This is a key role within our Stations Services team based at Hinkley Point B Power Station.
In this role you will be part of the dedicated Maintenance team, which is based at the Hinkley Point B. You will report to the Head of Maintenance and Jacobs Site Lead as your reporting line. The team you will work within will be both diverse and inclusive (Client, Jacobs and other suppliers) to maintain the safe operational status of these important nuclear facilities by carrying out routine maintenance and defect repairs of plant, carrying out routine testing of plant, complete refurbishment of plant, undertaking modifications to plant and supporting outage activities. This role has no direct reports.
- Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.
- Strong communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused tempered with a team-centred approach.
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Safety critical understanding or having worked within a structured organisation
- Demonstrates high engineering and health and safety standards
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification within one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, C&I, Civil, Construction & Commissioning
- Completion of Apprenticeship in appropriate technical discipline acceptable - Min four years' experience.
- Proven experience as Technician (or relevant role)
- Excellent knowledge of plant, machinery, systems, and components
- Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read Work Order Cards, RAMS, instructions, blueprints, schematic diagrams, general arrangements, building layout / containment drawings, knowledge of assigned (example HVAC) systems, similar systems, or equivalent systems
- Very good communication skills
- A problem-solving ability
- Seek commitment from key stakeholders
- Manage uncertainty and conflict
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic awareness of CAD
- Five plus years in a Technical role preferred
- EDF site/station experience is preferred
- Nuclear environment experience is preferred
- Preferred qualifications (training can be provided): SMSTS - Site Management Safety Training Scheme, CDM Qualification - in-house training and/or experience based, IOSH (Managing Safety - 5 day) Qualification, NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualification, CSCS - Construction Skills Certification Scheme
