The Role

We are currently recruiting for a full time, motivated and enthusiastic Maintenance Technician to join our Customer Services team visiting customers’ homes across the South Midlands; therefore, a full driving licence is essential – a company van and tools will be provided as part of the role.

As our multi skilled Maintenance Technician, you will carry out inspections and maintenance work to the highest standards in Avant Homes customers’ homes within the area.

Your responsibilities will also include the following:

  • Attend all customer appointments on time and ensure any materials required are sourced prior to the appointment.
  • Ensure that all remedial work is completed properly, efficiently, cleanly and with appropriate consideration for the customer.
  • Effectively communicate with customers with regards to the outcome of any inspections or maintenance work completed and answer any questions.
  • Common works include paving flags, filling and painting due to shrinkage, bathroom sealant and replacing cracked tiles.
  • Joinery work include removal/installation of vanity units, changing bath panels, hanging external/internal doors, fitting kitchen units and installing skirting boards.
  • Log completed maintenance works on the tablet and report back where follow up works are required, ensuring full description and photographs are provided.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is followed, and site regulations are adhered to.
  • Advise the company as to recurring causes of defects where possible.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful as our Maintenance Technician, you will have extensive knowledge and broad skills the maintenance field and successful candidates may have previously worked for a repairs contractor, housebuilder or local authority carrying out trades and maintenance.

We are looking for a multi skilled technician who can undertake all aspects of property maintenance such as joinery, painting and tiling. You will have the ability to remain calm and collected when faced with difficult customers, and situations, so a high level of personal integrity and respect for others is essential.

You will also need to possess:

  • A full UK driving licence
  • Good communication skills
  • Good Product Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Customer Service requirements.
  • An awareness of codes of practice that impact on Construction matters e.g. NHBC, Building Regs etc
  • Flexibility on working hours

The successful candidate may be required to work additional paid time to attend out of hours appointments, if requested by our customers. This may include evenings and weekends.
